 Sandra Whiles is the Chief Executive of the Council and Head of Paid Service for the Council, she has been in post since May 2005.

The “Head of Paid Service" is responsible for the co-ordination, management and delivery of all of the Council's activities, services and functions and has overall responsibility for all the Council's staff.  

The role of Chief Executive involves advising the Cabinet Executive, Scrutiny Commission and Full Council on any policy or strategic issues that are of importance to the authority
