Councils exist to serve the people within their local communities and provide services.
The main services that District Councils are responsible for are Development Control, Housing, and Environmental Health.
Blaby District Council is divided into 18 wards which are represented by 39 elected Councillors.
The Leader
of the Council appoints the Cabinet Executive which comprises 7 members (each with their own portfolios). Many of the other
council members, who are drawn from all political parties to carry out scrutiny and regulatory roles.
The Chief Executive has overall
responsibility for the management of the Council.
The Chief Executive is supported by 2 Strategic Directors, a Corporate Management Board and the
Blaby Management Team.
