programmes are groups of projects, which work together to enable physical, environmental and economic improvements to happen.

Funding Package for Blaby Town Centre
Blaby District Council has successfully secured a funding package to help it commission a Masterplan Study which will examine ways of improving and enhancing the Town Centre.
The study will be carried out over 9 months from April 2007 to investigate and assess a wide range of potential improvement works, such as pedestrianisation, landscaping, signposting and general enhancement of public facilities that could make the centre more attractive and appealing as a shopping and leisure venue. The final Masterplan Study is expected to be completed by September 2007.
£25,000 of funding has been attracted towards the Masterplan Study from Leicester Shire Economic Partnership, £5,000 from Leicestershire County Council and a £10,000 contribution being made by Blaby District Council. Blaby Parish Council has also given its support to the project. Local businesses will be encouraged to contribute their views on how they see the centre developing in future.

Market towns play a vital service role to the local community and surrounding area and often find it difficult to compete against larger, out of town, retail stores.
