Summary

For any organisation to be really effective, whether in the public or private sector, it must have focus and direction. It needs to be absolutely clear about what it is trying to achieve and why.

Our new Corporate Plan sets out our vision for Blaby District, how we will play our part in delivering the Blaby District Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS), and how we will go about improving, along with partners, the quality of life of people living, working or visiting the District.

Our Vision for the district

'In 2026 Blaby District will be made up of thriving, sustainable, safe, healthy, fair and secure communities where people are happy to live and work'

We want Blaby to be known for:

• Its clean, attractive and sustainable environment
• The contribution of its children and young people
• The safety, strength and health of its communities
• High quality, responsive, efficient and valued public services

In order to achieve this vision we have set sixteen clear ambitions that are further defined as critical projects and objectives in our Corporate Plan; where you can see the time scales within which we aim to complete each one.

Our sixteen ambitions are:

1. The economy is prospering and prosperous
2. It is easy to get about using sustainable, integrated transport networks
3. The physical environment across the district makes people proud
4. We are doing everything we can to respond to the challenges of climate change
5. People can afford to live in high quality, sustainable homes in strong communities
6. All young people can reach their potential
7. Young people are actively involved in planning and delivering improvements to services
8. Children and young people make positive choices about health and behaviour
9. People work together to make their communities safer
10. Anti-social behaviour is a thing of the past
11. Communities and individuals have the skills and confidence to work together to shape their local area
12. All people are as healthy and active as they can be
13. People from differing backgrounds and needs have the opportunity to be engaged in their community
14. Older people are independent and enjoy a good quality of life
15. Agencies communicate and work together to provide customer focussed services
16. Customers expect and receive the best services
