Blaby District Council is able to provide some assistance during flood events. The Council offers a service providing sand bags. If you are threatened by floodwater contact the Council on the numbers below.
For information about flood control products, including automatic air brick covers and barriers for doors, access the National Flood Forum site. They have useful information too about a more modern replacement for sand bags which take up much less space.

The core activity of the Technical Services Section is to mitigate the effects of flooding on the population of the District by identifying potential flood situations and significant casual factors and working with the Environment Agency and Leicestershire Flood Warning Group to co-ordinate works of flood prevention.
Additionally, works are undertaken to maintain the free flow of storm water down watercourses to reduce the probability of flooding by implementing the flood prevention programme. A suitable 24 hour emergency standby arrangement for flood related matters is maintained.
The Section also responds to enquiries from the public on flooding and drainage matters, and offers advice.
