Countryside Walks for all

[Apr 19, 2006]

From Dawn to Dusk – Guided walks offer something for all
The annual programme of guided walks in the District of Blaby has will begin on Saturday April 29th at 5.00am.  keen nature lovers are invited to meet at Fosse Meadows, Sharnford where Bernard Gibney will guide the early risers through the dawn chorus

This is however, the only early start in the varied programme of countryside and blue badge walks which continues across the District until the end of the year, culminating with a Christmas Ghost Walk  Tuesday 12t December.

The Countryside walks are free of charge but participants  need to book a place in advance.  There is a small charge for the Blue Badge walks which are led by a team of trained Blue Badge guides.

A leaflet giving full details of all the walks is available from  the Council’s Main offices in Narborough, The Blaby Joint Service Shop, Forge Corner Blaby, local libraries and tourist information offices and via the Councils web site www.blaby.gov.uk   Alternatively call the Council’s Community Development Division on 0116 272 7703 to request a copy.  Anyone interested in taking part in any of the walks should also call this number to reserve a place on the walk of their choice.

Councillor Ted Webster-Williams, Cabinet member with responsibility for Community Focus said,
“ There is much to discover in The District of Blaby.  This programme of walks and talks is a great way of improving your local knowledge.  It has proved to be extremely popular over the past few years.  Where else can you get the services of an expert local guide free of charge?”
