Consultation begins on 4,250 homes plan
News release
A six week consultation where people can have their say on proposals to build 4,250 homes in Lubbesthorpe will begin on Friday March 18.
The land proposed for development is off Beggars Lane and borders Leicester Forest East, Enderby and Braunstone Town.
Hallam Land Management, Barrat, David Wilson Homes and Davidson Developments submitted the planning application in February 2011.
Blaby District Council are sending around 6,600 letters to people living in parts of Enderby, Kirby Muxloe and Leicester Forest East and all residents in Thorpe Astley and Lubbesthorpe, explaining where they can view the planning application and how to comment.
People who do not receive a letter can still make formal comments on the proposals. The plans will be available to view online at www.blaby.gov.uk/lubbesthorpe and in libraries and parish council offices in the following locations:
- Enderby
- Leicester Forest East
- Braunstone Town
- Kirby Muxloe
A copy will also be available to view at Blaby District Council’s main offices in Narborough and Glenfield Library.
To be formally considered comments must be made either online using the lubbesthorpe application link, by email to lubbesthorpe@blaby.gov.uk or in writing to the Lubbesthorpe Development Team at Blaby District Council.
People who submit comments through the planning online system can sign up to receive automatic email updates on the proposals. Updates will also be posted on the Councils facebook and twitter pages.
This first stage of public consultation ends on 4 May 2011 however it is anticipated that a second consultation will be carried out before the Council makes a decision on the application.
For more information email lubbesthorpe@blaby.gov.uk or call 0116 272 7565.
Notes to editors:
The application, which was submitted in February 2011, contains plans for primary and secondary schools,
two motorway bridges (across the M1 and M69), shops and 21 hectares of employment land as well as 4,250 houses.
Although planning applications are usually expected to be determined within 16 weeks this application will take longer because of its complexity and the need to make sure all relevant individuals and organisations are properly consulted.
It is expected the Council will make a decision on whether to approve or reject the application by the end of 2011.
